Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Cat Bot (the "Bot"), a Discord bot that counts meows and barks across servers it's invited to. The Bot is also distributed under reskinned invite links and names ("Catboy Bot", "Catgirl Bot"), but it is the same underlying service — these Terms apply no matter which name or invite link you used. By adding the Bot to a server or interacting with it, you agree to these Terms.
1. What the Bot does
The Bot reads messages in channels it can see to detect meow- and bark-type words, keeps a running count per user and per server, and can post an occasional random meow into channels an admin configures. Full details on what is and isn't stored are in the Privacy Policy.
2. Acceptable use
- Don't use the Bot to violate Discord's Terms of Service or Community Guidelines.
- Don't attempt to abuse, exploit, overload, or reverse-engineer the Bot to disrupt its service for others.
- Don't use the Bot to harass, spam, or target other users.
3. Server admins
Anyone with permission to manage a server can invite or remove the Bot at any time. Admins are responsible for configuring the Bot (e.g. which channels receive random meows) and for moderating how it's used within their community.
4. Availability
The Bot is provided free of charge, on a best-effort basis, with no uptime guarantee. Features may be changed, added, or removed, and the Bot may be taken offline temporarily or permanently, at any time and without notice.
5. Data & privacy
Use of the Bot is also governed by the Privacy Policy, which explains exactly what data is collected and how it's used.
6. Disclaimer & liability
The Bot is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages or losses arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Bot.
7. Open source
Cat Bot is built in the open under an open-source license. A public repository link will be added to this site once it's live.
8. Changes to these Terms
These Terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the Bot after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms. The date at the top of this page always reflects the latest version.
